Research in the Tu group
focuses on the rational design of selforganized materials
from biological molecules to engineer drug delivery
vehicles, implanted materials, and molecular
medicines. Application
of a rational peptide stitchery enables construction of a
molecule from elements that behave predictably.
SESMI students will
synthesize model peptides using facilities at the
Rockefeller Institute and will examine their organization
at the air-liquid interface in a Langmuir trough through
measurement of pressure-area isotherms and Brewster angle
microscopy.
